The EMT acts in the following municipalities:
Badalona, Barcelona, Castelldefels, Cornellà de Llobregat, Esplugues de Llobregat, Gavà, l´Hospitalet de Llobregat, Montcada i Reixac, Montgat, El Prat de Llobregat, Sant Adrià de Besòs, Sant Boi de Llobregat, Sant Feliu de Llobregat, Sant Joan Despí, Sant Just Desvern, Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Tiana and Viladecans.
Between them these municipalities have a surface area of 331.5 km2 and a population of around 2,650,000. The public transport services run by EMT carry 521 million passenger per year on 5 underground railway and over 150 bus lines. These lines are run by a total of 11 operators, two of which are publicly owned and belong to EMT (Metro and TMB buses). The rest are private. EMT works with operators in various ways depending on the types of service involved.
